Wikipedia:Requests for page protection
This page has an administrative backlog that requires the attention of willing administrators. Please replace this notice with {{no admin backlog}} when the backlog is cleared. |
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Edit warring related to WP:GS/CASTE. Kline • talk • contribs 20:49, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – PIA. Heyaaaaalol (talk) 06:47, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Much of this article isn't focused on the conflict, and I don't see recent violations of WP:ARBECR there, so Not done. SilverLocust 💬 06:03, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Reason: Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated misuse of the talk page with excessive discussions and comments from various Canadian range IPs that are WP:NOTHERE to contribute constructively and violate WP:NOTAFORUM since October. These have been excessive in a way that is unusual for a draft article. Despite IPs being warned, the inappropriate and unconstructive discussions and comments persist and show no sign of ceasing. Trailblazer101 (talk) 07:00, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- If there are no disruptive edits from established or confirmed users, only semi is needes Heyaaaaalol (talk) 19:39, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
This is quite an unusual case. I have posted about it at WP:AN#Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse - draft article about a future film seems to be a long-term draft. Yaris678 (talk) 00:46, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking appropriate action to proceed with this issue. I have responded at that discussion. Trailblazer101 (talk) 01:22, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Mellk (talk) 17:28, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
Reason: Recent, frequent IP vandalism (at least partially from link being shared on x.com) Dgpop (talk) 17:57, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Please enforce WP:CT/AP if possible. IanDBeacon (talk) 23:32, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
Reason: Edit warring amongst parties with COI. Vandalism by users Preetifeb and Jayantbudgaonkar. Acetyl-CoA35 (talk) 20:02, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Fully protected for a period of 2 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. — Newslinger talk 01:56, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Acetyl-CoA35, please note that your edit summary in Special:Diff/1265812833, which states that "Use of Civil Honours as titles is not permitted by Indian Law", is not applicable to Wikipedia, as the inclusion of a civil honour by itself does not violate any Wikipedia policy or guideline. Additionally, your editing history on the article also constitutes edit warring. Please discuss disputed changes on the the article talk page instead of repeatedly reinstating your preferred version of the article; I recommend the BOLD, revert, discuss cycle for dispute resolution. — Newslinger talk 02:03, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- User(s) blocked: Jayantbudgaonkar (talk · contribs). Soft-blocked per Wikipedia:Username policy § Real names, until Jayantbudgaonkar completes account verification. — Newslinger talk 01:56, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP is edit warring and adding unsourced information. Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 22:16, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- User(s) blocked: 2a00:23c7:be13:ca01::/64 (talk · contribs). Partially blocked the IP editor from the article page for 2 weeks for edit warring. Thanks for reporting this. — Newslinger talk 02:19, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Let's see if we can deter the editor for a while. Moxy🍁 22:27, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Automated comment: A request for protection/unprotection for one or more pages in this request was recently made, and was denied at some point within the last 8 days.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 22:33, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Correct ..... What we have is a block editor IP hopping to do what they will. See User talk:Aoidh#Block evasion for more information.Moxy🍁 22:37, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
Reason: Some anonymous users changed the date of Shrek 5 to August 2, 2026, when the movie was only scheduled for July 1, 2026 per sources.[1] The Media Expert (talk) 22:28, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

Reason: High IP of vandalism, made by an individual named John Ernest David or some of Bertrand101 's cohorts claiming some of former CNN PH personalities were transferred to UNTV, despite several users already cleaning up vandalism, any they keep re-adding them without any citations. BeemoKincaid (talk) 02:18, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Adnan (ᵀᵃˡᵏ) 02:20, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Reason: High level of vandalism. NotQualified (talk) 02:33, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Multiple accounts have tried to remove informationg around McMurdock's former conviction
Reason: Requesting permanent increase of page protection to semi-protection. Consistent vandalism by new accounts and IP editors. MimirIsSmart (talk) 02:48, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Temporary full protection: Another user keeps recreating this page then move to other space of Wikipedia. Additionally, delete first the page then full protect it. 𝙳.𝟷𝟾𝚝𝚑 (𝚃𝚊𝚕𝚔) 04:12, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah and thats user is u. u also involved. Aidillia(talk) 04:14, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- @D.18th and Aidillia: This is the stupidest move war I have ever seen. You were both moving a redirect page to various titles for no apparent purpose. And you've both previously both been blocked for edit warring with each other. Stop edit warring with each other – on any page – or you will be blocked again. SilverLocust 💬 05:30, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- If this resumes it can be dealt with via a block or two, so Not done on full protection. SilverLocust 💬 06:18, 29 December 2024 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Article is receiving a flurry of vandalism from different IPs - likely due to a recent game involving India v Australia. Marleeashton (talk) 05:10, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Automated comment: One or more pages in this request appear to already be protected. Please confirm.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 08:23, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – repeated IP vandalism. Nat Gertler (talk) 06:25, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Indefinite create protection: Offensive name – High risk page. Heyaaaaalol (talk) 07:46, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Declined – Pages are not protected preemptively. There is no history of any kind on this page to justify protection at this time. — Newslinger talk 08:00, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism due to dispute over validity of elections - IP editors repeatedly removing mass amounts of content on article. Marleeashton (talk) 08:20, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: Page was ECP protected 3 years ago due to an edit war. Cannot contact OhNoItsJamie as talk pages aren’t loading for me Heyaaaaalol (talk) 06:18, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Pinging Ohnoitsjamie. — Malcolmxl5 (talk) 12:14, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- I think lowering protection of that page would be waste of time, but if someone else wants to I won't object. OhNoitsJamie Talk 16:17, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
Reason: This protection is not needed due to its uncontroversial content. The incident is plain and simple, a unfortunate mishap led to the killing of now 28 civilians. Nothing controversial about that, additionally there were no vandalism attacks at all so this protection is unwarranted. An Autoconfirmed Protection would be best for this page. SimpleSubCubicGraph (talk) 04:35, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Not done. I see at least 16 reverts in the edit history in less than a day. And not due to anonymous/unconfirmed edits. If you want to change something in the article, then propose an edit request on the talk page. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:39, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Anachronist In the talk page, I discussed with another moderator who agreed to bump down the protection in about a day. These reverts usually happen due to conflicting information from news sources and consistent updates. Its normal with every big incident, editors scramble to edit but usually in a few days that calms down. SimpleSubCubicGraph (talk) 04:43, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- This is just here so that it reminds him. SimpleSubCubicGraph (talk) 04:43, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- The purpose of article protection is to maintain the stability of the Wikipedia project, and that many reverts in just a day suggests instability. Protection is doing its intended job, and I see no reason to reduce it. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:46, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- SimpleSubCubicGraph, the "another moderator" is me and I think you are misunderstanding the relevant procedures to the point of assuming the bot does the protections. I'd recommend having a look at the Task Center or the community portal and doing something else than what you currently do. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 04:47, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- I dont use Wikipedia much so that is why I am not that knowledgeable. SimpleSubCubicGraph (talk) 04:49, 29 December 2024 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
